Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, has spoken out after claims that he had fallen out with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party associated with Deputy President William Ruto.
In a statement shared on Thursday, October 7, after touchdown from a trip in the US, the Senator refuted the claims.
He further blamed bloggers and propagandists opposed to the Deputy President of attempting to soil his name in the run up to the 2022 General Election.
“Just returned from the US Capitol where we held meetings with Congressmen on matters of mutual interest to our two countries.”
“In my absence, propagandists, bloggers, busy bodies and all manner of nosy parkers have been peddling rumors and writing silly notes in my name. Desperados. Ignore them,” Murkomen advised his fans.
Accompanying his statement were screenshots from lawyers Wahome Thuku and Donald Kipkorir.
In Kipkorir’s case, the lawyer, in an October 1 tweet, hinted that it appeared Murkomen had left UDA due to the Senator’s absence from UDA functions for over a month.
“The last time my Senator Kipchumba Murkomen spoke about UDA on his Twitter or attended a UDA function is over a month ago. He now discusses Manchester United only. Has my Senator been dropped from UDA Politburo or as he left UDA quietly?”
“If my Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has left UDA, who are you to remain?” he questioned.
Wahome Thuku, on the other hand, advised Ruto to go back to the drawing board arguing that his team was preparing to decamp to Raila.
As part of the propaganda, a video clip of Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, attacking Murkomen for poorly advising the DP went viral on social media on Saturday, October 3.
In the 30-second clip, Sudi warned Murkomen against misleading the DP regarding the leadership of the vote-rich North Rift region.
It has however been established that the clip was recorded in 2016 at a time when the two leaders were on opposing sides.
